New online magazine
Guess what?  I'm a Neo-traditionalist.  Yup, that's right.  I love combining traditional elements with modern ones.  I like new prints on classically designed dresses.  I like throwing dinner parties with a little semi-homemade flair.  I love rummage shopping, letterpress, hand-written thank-you notes, piggy banks in fun designs, Elizabeth Bennet and Sookie Stackhouse, traveling somewhere historical, baskets of flowers and chihuahuas with long red hair.  Better yet, there is a group of people out there just like me.
And, they have a magazine that comes out TODAY!  Matchbook Magazine.
The matchbook girl...
views the world through rose colored glasses • loves to throw dinner parties, but has been known to burn the roast • values eccentricity over convention • is the first to laugh at her own bad jokes • knows the cha-cha, the charleston, and the tango • paints her nails bright coral when she's feeling blue • is infinitely curious • could happily live off of red velvet cake • pens hand written notes to her grandmother • has a signature shade of lipstick • secretly thinks she may be babe paley reincarnated • received an iPAD for her birthday, but will never give up her library card • has a bucket list a mile long and dreams a dime a dozen • is smart, but never a show-off • listens to the day's forecast, but trusts her own intuition • never says no to a sunday matinee at the theater • is quick to blush, but never short of a witty reply • has a skip in her step and a twinkle in her eye • always shares her last piece of gum

DogTown
So, I've become obsessed with the National Geographic Channel, via Netflix.  There are so many great shows: Lockdown, Is it real?, DogTown, etc.  Every night before I go to sleep,  I watch an episode of DogTown.  The show is about the forgotten animals and the animals that are destined for euthanization.  Best Friends Animal Society takes on the toughest cases and gives every animal the best medical treatment possible.  They also took in 22 of the Michael Vick dogs, one of which, is required to live the rest of her days at DogTown.  I'm a huge animal lover and the dogs are just adorable:
They not only have dogs.  They take on ALL animals, including Squeaky:
How cute is he? Well, I can't adopt a extra pet at the moment and I don't have a lot of money to donate (they are a non-profit run on donations), but I can spare a little bit every month.  So, I set up a recurring monthly donation of $10.  It isn't a lot, but it may help pay for food every month.  You can do so as well by clicking here.
But that's not all.  I wanted to do a little more.  There is also a wishlist of items that Best Friends would like to have for the animals, vets, and offices.  I have a soft spot for pigs, so I looked to see what the pigs wanted and one of the items was canned pumpkin.  In order to fill this little piggy wish, I went to Amazon's Subscribe & Save.  I ordered a 12-pack of organic canned pumpkin for $13.60.  Shipping was free and it was on special.  Since I got the item through Subscribe & Save, every month Best Friends will receive 12 cans of pumpkin from me for $13.60.  For a little under $25, I'm helping feed an abandoned dog and making a pot-bellied pig like Squeaky happy with a pumpkin treat!
It's not a lot, but if we all do a little something to help out a charity we love, then combined, we can make a big impact.

Golden Globes 2011
I love watching the stars getting all glammed up for an awards show.  It's the best part of the show, really.  I often don't agree with winners (I'm talking to you The Social Network).  But, the dresses make me happy.
My picks for best dressed:
And the worst:
My picks for best dressed:
She is known for black dresses, but she wears them well.
Such beautiful glamour.
I want this dress and I want to wear it every day.
 Sometimes classic is best.
Pregnancy has never looked better.
We have the same shape. I appreciate the time and effort it takes to find the right dress.
Fun.
And the worst:
I know she was dressing for fun...but two different shoes?
Just not a fan of the flapper skirt.
Scarlett?  Where are you?  You seem to have disappeared in that dress.
What to say....um, it's not Valentine's Day just yet.

Beautiful Books
As you all know, I have a Kate Spade obsession.  These books are part of my new KS collection.  They were written by Ms. Spade herself!!   In these books, she shares humorous and practical guidance on how to create your own sense of 21st century class and elegance; she shares her ideas about etiquette in lighthearted but down-to-earth terms--everything from air kissing to cell phone use; and, she invites you into her world of easy, festive entertaining, where the emphasis is not on "the perfect meal" but on having "the perfect time."  They're fun, brightly illustrated and have great shelf appeal.  You can find them all over, but I reccomend half.com or abebooks.com.

My Zodiac has changed
If you've ever read your horoscope, you may be interested in to learn that your sign may not really be your sign.
The star doctors say Earth is currently in a different spot in relation to the Sun, and its equatorial alignment has changed from 3,000 years ago when the study of astrology began -- back when 12 zodiac signs were assigned to 12 different periods of the year.
Astrology buffs should be using these dates, reflecting where the stars currently are aligned:
Capricorn: Jan. 20 - Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 - March 11
Pisces: March 11- April 18
Aries: April 18- May 13
Taurus: May 13- June 21
Gemini: June 21- July 20
Cancer: July 20- Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10- Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16- Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30- Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23- Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29- Dec. 17

Virgo - The Sign of the Harvest Goddess
The people who were born under the sign of Virgo have the strongly advanced analytical mind and all the time trying to glue labels on everything they see. They have sharp feelings of taste, time, hearing and sense of smell. The symbol of this sign is Virgo. It does not mean, that they are pure and sinless . It means that heir amazing abilities to observe allow them to see all the human lacks. Usually they do not like everything that they see, and they withdraw like Virgo. to a Leo:
Leo - The Sign of the Lion
The people of this sign are natural leaders and chiefs. In reality the supervising position is what the majority of people born under the sign of Lion aspires to. They are really intelligent and magnetic people. That fact attracts others, but they should not try to dominate everyone. Lion frequently called "The sign of the kings" according to his intelligence and graceful manners. Their astrological symbol " Lion" is considered to be the king of animals. But, as well as all governors, that people should learn to wear the crown modestly. They should remember their large sin - vanity.I think the astronomer is wrong.
