Close enough

I wanted to find the perfect picture to capture my mood.  Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find it yet, but this one isn't too far off.

Audrey Hepburn Love

I found this post during one of my marathon blog reading sessions.  It's was created almost a year ago, so all the links to the numbered clothing choices are expired.  But, I found the post to be a great inspiration for timeless pieces to add to your wardrobe.  And, let's be honest, who doesn't love Audrey Hepburn!

Apt. 34 asked if a bathroom could get better.

I agree, it absolutely cannot.  :-)

If only...

this was in the budget.  Kate Spade really does know how to make a girl swoon.  Even though you can use code "dontfret" to take 20% off all orders $50+ and receive free shipping, the bag is still too much.

SAG awards

My pick for best dressed is Diane Kruger in this retro Jason Wu gown.  It's what Hollywood is supposed to look like.  :-)

Corrine Bailey Rae's "The Sea"

My Golden Globe fashion choices

 The back of the dress is absolutely gorgeous!  I think the reason why I love it so much is that it reminds me of prom dress a bit.  Although my dress did not have the color combination and exquisite  lines, there is a slight resemblance.

This dress/look is, hands down, my favorite of the evening.  The simplicity of white and the clean modern lines make her look positively stunning!  I wish I had an occasion for a dress like this.

Groupon

I just discovered the coolness that is Groupon. For those who don't know, Groupon is a website that works on the concept of "collective buying power." They find a company that'll let customers try something at a much lower price than usual if enough people want to buy it.

For example, they have a dozen of Tiff's Treats for $5!!

Looking back on their recent deals, it's easy to see why this site is addictive, especially for a bargain hunter like me!

P.S.  It's for a lot of major cities, not just Dallas.

I want a glass toaster

The material is heated glass, which is currently being used in heated towel hangers and food warming shelves. One proposed invention using this material is a transparent toaster. This see-through toaster comes from the Inventables Concept Group , which has a huge collection of really cool design ideas.

2010

From here.

The new year could not have come at a more poignant time in my life.  While there are those that think New Year's day is an arbitrary day that someone randomly selected to be a holiday, to me, it's an opportunity to evaluate the previous year and create goals and a plan for the upcoming year.  It's a day that symbolizes the future.

My life has changed dramatically over the past year.  My career path is altered, my family life is altered, and my personal relationships are almost all new or, at the very least, altered.  Things that were important to me a year ago no longer top my list.  It's amazing how much one person can grow and change in a year.  I am so thankful my life has taken these twists and turns.

2009 was an awakening for me.  I stopped listening to what other people wanted from me and started listening to what makes me happy.  Unfortunately, I changed a lot of things without a plan.  Now my life is kind of a big mess.

From here.

For 2010, I want to clean up all the messes I've made.  That entails picking a career I love, figuring out what I want my life to look like, and choosing to include people I genuinely enjoy having in my life.  You know the kind, the ones that you can call at 3am, the ones that accept you, flaws and all, without trying to make changes, the ones that take the time to listen to you and the ones who bring out the very best in you.  Those are the people I want in my life.  And this year, I want to spend my time recognizing and cultivating these relationships.

I want direction.  So, although I abhor the idea of making a list of resolutions, there are things I would like to focus on in my life, and here they are:
  1. Find a career that makes me excited to get up every morning;
  2. confront and accept the things that happened in the past;
  3. recognize and cultivate the healthy relationships in my life;
  4. cook a great meal at least once every two weeks;
  5. get up and get moving; and
  6. face the scary stuff.
Basically, I want to discover what I want my life to look like, confront it with bravery, and do it with a little style.  And, I want to take those people that uplift me along for the ride.
